CAM Building and CAM Roads: an initial definition

FITT Sewer and FITT Sewer EVO comply with the technical specifications set out in CAM Building (D.M. 256/2022 – Italy) and CAM Roads (D.M. 279/2024 – Italy).

The Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) are environmental requirements established with the aim of reducing the environmental impact associated with the construction and maintenance of public buildings (CAM Building) and road infrastructures (CAM Roads).

Italian Legislative Decree No. 36 of 31 March 2023 mandates their application for the entire value of the procurement contract, confirming an obligation already provided under Article 34 of Italian Legislative Decree No. 50 of 18 April 2016.

Guidelines for Identifying False Claims of CAM Compliance

Three key points to consider when verifying whether compliance with CAM (Minimum Environmental Criteria) is genuine:

Certificate consistency: the commercial name of the product must match the product name listed on the CAM compliance certificate. Any discrepancies may indicate non-compliance.
Minimum requirement compliance: PVC pipes must contain at least 20% recycled, recovered, or by-product materials, in accordance with the technical criteria set out by the Italian Ministerial Decree No. 256 of June 23, 2022 (CAM Building) and the Italian Ministerial Decree No. 279 of August 5, 2024 (CAM for Roads).
Stock availability: the manufacturer must be able to supply large volumes, with availability across different diameters, stiffness classes, lengths, and jointing systems—a critical indicator that the product is not just certified on paper, but actually producible and deliverable at scale.
